Active listening is key to communication
Episode Overview
In this episode, I talk about how stress builds up in the relationship stress zones and leads to breaking points that can be avoided with good communication skills. We talk about what prevents good communication and what you can do to improve communication. We specifically talk about the importance of active listening, psychological safety, and being vulnerable when having difficult conversations. Kerri has a wonderful talent for contextualising her learning points with some of her stories about her leadership coaching and life experience
Four tenants of psychological safety
- Anyone Anyone can ask questions without looking stupid
- Anyone can ask for feedback without looking incompetent
- Anyone can be respectfully critical without appearing negative
- Anyone can suggest innovative ideas without being perceived as being disruptive

Kerri likes to talk about:
The interplay between healthy debate and innovation. For either of those things to happen, teams need strong interpersonal communication. In this session with you, I can provide tips to have healthy debate and review the reality that we need to be innovative as we redesign our futures. There is no such thing as going back to the pre-Covid days!
This is how Kerri describes how she adds value to her audience and clients:
The clients I am working with struggle with employee engagement. There is too much work to do and too little employees, never mind that the employees we have struggle to stay motivated. I hear leaders complaining about the victim mindset. People are stuck spinning. We need to get beyond that if we are going to improve our wellness and find ways to get the work done.
